Сase Study: Event platform for DIGITAL X
DIGITAL X 2022, the European digitization festival, transformed downtown Cologne into the city of the future. With over 50,000 visitors, 300 partners, 300 speakers and 90 entertainment acts, there were two days of pure digitization. More than 300 national and international (top) speakers, such as Steve Wozniak and Jessica Alba, spoke on 15 stages spread over four Cologne districts. Similar to the South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, this was a festival that covered an entire city area. For the duration of DIGITAL X, cafés, galleries, yoga studios and laundromats were transformed into exhibition spaces for internationally renowned companies.
The organiser needed an integrated event platform with an event app that would make both the extensive programme with over 700 lectures and workshops and the 150 exhibitors spread throughout the city centre accessible. The special feature: the exhibitors were not clearly arranged in an exhibition hall but spread over more than 2 million square metres in the city centre. Other goals were AI-based matchmaking, geo-fencing and motion analysis, outdoor navigation, hybrid meetings and much more. The organizer wanted to use the data on workshop usage and booth visits for product management and to optimize the program for the next edition.
The adventics team successfully implemented the challenging project for DIGITAL X for the second time. As in the first time, ADITUS was used as registration partner and Grip as platform technology. In addition, this time ExpoFP was used as navigation technology and Crowd Connected for geo-fencing and blue-dot navigation. adventics GmbH took care of the entire project management, integration of different technologies, content management and on-site support. Participants were suggested suitable sessions as well as other participants for connecting based on their interests stated during registration as well as on their behaviour. Both the level of use of the platform and the satisfaction of all participants were very high.
Now is the time to think about tomorrow. In particular, trade show companies that keep an eye on future trends, new technologies and expanded business models, as well as the competition, can be successful in the long term.
